A plethora of cultural events take place in the cities and villages of the Prefecture of Preveza throughout the year, under the auspices of the local societies and clubs of the Municipalities and the Prefecture. The summer events however are the most crowded and lively ones.
After all, Preveza lies in the Ionian Sea, whose islands are known for their rich musical and cultural contribution.
The following cultural events are the most popular within the area:
- In Preveza, the Women Carnival on the last Thursday of the Mardi Gras and the Sardine’s Festival during the first weekend of August, within the framework of the Preveza Festival.
- The International Chorus Festival in July, with choruses from all over the world, and the Music Festival, which was recently established and is taking place in June. During the entire summer, there are concerts, theatrical and dancing shows, painting and photography exhibitions.
- The Pargina are the peak of the cultural events in Parga, in July and August.
- The Kanareia, taking place between August 13-15 in Parga, attract many visitors and are dedicated to Konstantinos Kanaris. These events include, among others, the reenactment of the burning of the Turkish flagship from the legendary warrior and a fireworks show.
- The Louriotika in the Municipality of Louros are taking place in July and August.
- In Nea Sampsounta, in the beginning of August, the Amisos cultural events include theatrical and musical shows.
- In Nea Sinopi, the Diogeneia in mid-July include events with bands from Pontos and in Kanalaki the Acheronteia also take place during July and August.
- The Zaloggeia, which take place in October, include the reenactment of the Zaloggos Dance from the sacred rock
- The Tsipouro Festival takes place in Kryopigi in the fall
- The Wine Festival takes place in Oropos in the fall
